What just happened?

That seemed like the fastest 2 hours of my life!  I had a lot to get off my chest this week – and Pistol Pete and I produced so much content, we didn’t get to half of it. We had a blast, drank loads of champagne – and delivered another first class piece of entertainment. No LIVE music this week – but we did have Benjamin Sherman – the creator of the Obama Condom (The Ultimate Stimulus Package and various other amusing taglines on the box). Camille and Amit were present and a guy called Josh – apparently a big fan of the show. The Domain Name Game was amusing as usual  – we did Lakers related domains as it’s playoff season. I missed having LIVE music in the studio – I am going to try and make that happen most weeks – and I may start to audition some comedian sidekicks as well.  Bloody good fun – hope you enjoy.

It’s an Entertainment Juggernaut….

Look, this is getting out of hand. Music, Celebrities, Games and more – it’s the complete entertainment package!

People who come on the show want to come back the very next week. The brilliant Andy Buckley from The Office, case in point. Listeners are calling in.  Kerri Kasem and Ashley Marriott from the KPod.com came in to talk about conspiracy theories – and they rocked it out! And to really spice it up – the uber-talented Paul Waters sang LIVE during the show.  He should be hugely famous – I love Paul’s music and we’ve been trying to book him for weeks – he’s an internet legend and also one of the coolest cats on the planet. SO check out his music at www.myspace.com/paulwatersstacho

What else? Well, I was on a roll due to an absolute bastard behind my eyes (rent Withnail and I – it’s the ultimate drinking movie) – and it does seem that the less I care about my performance – the more real I keep it and the funnier it is. Plus, I have been doing this for 13 weeks – I’m an old pro for crissakes.

Domain name game – I won! Nobody got it right – but you can play the game on the website – it was Volcano related.  Remember,  you have to select the ONLY domain that you think is NOT available on GoDaddy.com.

I love a good quote – and we had some fun with celebrity quotes this week – my favorite has to be:

“Everyone has a plan. Until they get punched in the face” – Mike Tyson.

Finally – we had some great PRESS this week – check it out: http://dannybrown.me/2010/04/19/hungover-radio-a-social-media-success-story-by-marcus-edwardes/

Done and Done.  Til Sunday – Cheers.

April 11th – another splendid arrangement!

Well, we made it. 3 months, 12 weeks, 24 hours of LIVE Broadcasting. That’s a whole freakin day of me! Let’s hope this is just the beginning.

When we first started the show, I said that I’d do 12 weeks and then review the situation.  I have invested a stupid amount of money and time into this project and at this point I don’t think it’s a train I could stop if I wanted to! Whatever that means. Anyway, I am committing for another 3 months. That’s right mates – put me in the calendar for the next 12 Sundays! And then……I’m going big-time. No shit – I’m going for the uber-parlay. I’m gonna syndicate this thing if it kills me. If you are reading this – you are a fan of the show, so I know you think it’s possible too. You gotta be in it to win it, right?

This week we featured the Live music of the uber-talented Kelly McGrath. She sent chills up my spine during her performance. One listener accused me of gushing too much over here – not my style apparently. Bollocks to that. What is my style? I have no idea.  Anyway – she was terrific. Pop, Rock, Country – whatever you want to call it – it was good stuff. Thanks Kelly!

Andy Buckley for the hit TV show The Office was in the studio with me this week. Andy was introduced to me by a mate of mine, David Keane – and he turned out out to be rather an amusing chap. He’s a consummate plugger, very self deprecating and jsut a good all round laugh. And in fact – he’s coming back next week!

This week’s Domain Name Game was a cracker – and now you can play it here on the website. This week I switched it up so that the idea was to identify the Domain that was NOT available on GoDaddy.com. Usually we play it the other way round – but since I am actually trying to drive traffic to the fantastic GoDaddy website – why not prove that there are in fact a ton of great domain names still available? Good thinking Batman.

The Fabulous Camster (Camille) didn’t have many opportunities until toward the end of the show when she went on a great little rant – once agai cementing her position as a great co-host. Expect to hear more from her in the future.

That’s about it. Absolutely fascinating stuff, I know. I’m off to produce next weeks show – so see ya.

March 28 Show recap

Sorry I’m late posting it….I’ve been pretending to be really busy this week.
Great show! I wasn’t actually on top form because I wasn’t nearly hungover enough. Alex Peacock joined me along with the fabulous Camille. Steve pops in for an outrageous edition of “Steve – we can rebuild him” – it’s a real shocker this week – definitely not for children under the age of 35. We kicked off Hungover Idol – a great start – Steve Shane, Camille and some gatecrasher called Roy – whom we had to escort from the building. What a wanker.
Anyway – as usual, sit back, grab a brew and enjoy!

March 14th – how good?

Our 8th show! It’s all going according to plan – this week we had Todd the Engineer in his rightful place – whcih makes a huge difference and allows me to get on with the show without worrying too much about the sound, music, stings, prerecorded pieces etc.
This ain’t easy. Or everyone would be doing it. Anyway – I haven’t lost any of my enthusiasm – I’m determined to parlay this whole thing into something that actually pays the bills. I am getting better every week – I reckon by week 12 I am going to have transformed into a comfortable Broadcaster.
It was a great show – we had 3 comedians come in for the second hour and had a lot of fun with them – I find that the more people in the studio – the better I feel and perform. Comedians know how to have a laugh – and the banter we had was probably as good or better than the set pieces.
Next week – The Jesse Ventura Interview – listen in and I’ll explain how I landed that. Very soon we have Corbin Bernsen, RIck Reilly of ESPN and an interview with the man who taught Keanu Reeves how to surf for the greatest movie of all time, Point Break. Stick with us – it’s going to be a great Summer!

March 7th update

I really screwed up the beginning of the show this week as I was doing all the sound engineering again. There are multiple pieces of software involved in broadcasting a Hungover Radio Live – and so, faced with the spinning wheel of death (Mac users will understand), in my infinite wisdom I decided to reboot the main broadcast computer…at 9.55am. What I forgot to do was to save all my software settings. Oops. Anyway, after a frantic few minutes and a 6 minute delay – we went live at 10.06am. Phew. Could have been a lot worse. Well, in fact, it was a lot worse, but that’s another story. Overall, we delivered a great show – I have received some criticism for my opening monologue – I probably should have made it clearer that I was reading a piece that I wrote on Saturday – as opposed to just ad-libbing. I wasn’t trying to hide the fact – but I also didn’t deliver it convincingly enough for it to sound unscripted. The thing is – I enjoy writing – and Hungover Radio provides me with a great platform to get my frustrated inner journalist out in the form of spoken word. So bloody there. The Best Actor segment was great even though my earlier Jack Nicholson impression should have won an award too.
Great stuff is happening to Hungover Radio – GoDaddy are soon to be sponsoring us, there’s a new website coming and I promise not to talk about English Football anymore. This is America after all – and I love it here.
If you support the show – get on the old Dog and Bone (phone) to me during the show and share the love! +1 424 230 7701.
Bloody Marvellous.

Stop the Press! Hungover Radio now accepts phone calls!

Have you even heard of a Radio Show accepting calls LIVE ON AIR?!  We are breaking some seriously new ground here. This is how it works. You are sitting around on Sunday morning, kicking back, enjoying the show – when BAM! – you have a question for me or one of my guests that you need answered NOW! Pick up the phone, call me on +1 424 230 7701, or skype me at “hungoverradio”- and, if the switchboard is not jammed – you can ask your question LIVE ON AIR! Revolutionary, I know.

One caveat. We are still interviewing for a phone screener.  Until we find the right person – it’s me. So, be persistent. I may ignore your call if I’m in full flow. Oh – and one final thing. Be incredibly interesting. And funny. No pressure. ‘Til Sunday.
