Valentines Day Show – Bloody Marvellous!

Q. What do you get if you invite 4 single girls from Craigslist , a House of Blues headlining rapper and a new producer to the Hungover Radio Show?
A. Pure unadulterated entertainment! It could have been a trainwreck – but the Valentines Day show was completely off the hook!
This weeks show was a total success. “Night and day compared to week one”, according to one listener, Greg from Manhattan Beach, who loved the whole show. Tooting my own horn? Fuck yeah. I’m starting to believe we might have something here. I got a new Producer this week, Pistol Pete, who worked hard with me to really put some structure to the show and the results were obvious. Thanks Pete. I also bought a mixing desk and some new mics this week and hired a sound engineer, Todd, who helped me hook everything up and gave me some useful technical training. The studio is looking good now – and it actually feels like a radio station. I even got a Hungover Radio banner printed. It’s happening!
We stuck an ad on Craigslist on Monday for single girls to appear in a radio show and had some very interesting responses. I got an email from one couple who wanted me to have sex with the wife because the husband was disabled. But that’s a whole ‘nother show… Anyway, the girls turned out to be both attractive and intelligent, and obviously very brave to come to a complete strangers house on a Sunday morning to feature in a Valentines Day dating contest on a show called Hungover Radio! Bradley Keys, single, rapper and a good friend of mine agreed to be the prize – and the rest is podcast history. There’s a great twist at the end of the show, so sit back, relax and enjoy the podcast. Let me know what you think. BTW – if you like the music – you can download Bradley on iTunes.
If you’ve got any great ideas for future shows – or even want to appear on the show – drop me a line. And if you know anyone at Sirius – send them a link!
cheers and lovely.

Well – the show is definitely getting better. My Mum said so. This week we really started to get the audio dialed in – I worked with a pro sound engineer for a few hours on Saturday to really figure out all the software and hardware issues – and the results were pretty good but we still need to secure the microphones from the constant freaking banging they get from my guests. Jesus. Anyway, sorry about that Podcast listeners. There were some weak spots in the show – some topics just don’t work out the way you expect – and it can be really painful for me to listen back to myself after the show. I sound like a right wanker sometimes. Speaking of which – I hope you liked the Wanker of the Week and also The Domain Name Game. Pretty raw, I know – but it can only get better. Next week – we’ve got some surprises in store and there will be a lot more structure to the content. We are working with a Producer this week on some great new show ideas – so whatever you do – don’t miss The Valentines Hungover Radio show, it’s gonna be off the hook..!!
Jan 31st. Basically, a bunch of arse.

Once we actually got the show on the air – it went pretty well. The sound was horrible though – terribly echoey – but that is all going to change next week big time. I’ve invested in some new gear and I am committed to providing a seamless experience next week for my dedicated listeners.
The tech side of this has been giving me a serious headache – I had to change Broadcast Server Provider on Saturday night and was up most of the night subsequently testing the new service. I’m thinking about hiring a sound engineer to really help me tweak the show to the max.
Anyway – we actually managed to Podcast the show this week – so feel free to have a listen and I appreciate any feedback. Be nice.
Next week is going to be off the hook – jingles, stingers, games – so huddle around your interwebs on Sunday at 10.00am and join in the fun for the pre-Superbowl special.

Well, my mum liked it.
Actually – the feedback has been great on the first show. I was great. I got a big compliment from one listener (not my Mum) who said it “was a guilty pleasure”. I didn’t manage to speak to the other listener.
In my panic to get the show out Live – I failed to press the Record button, I thought I had, but I hadn’t. Bummer. So no Podcast this week. Maybe next week I will remember. So, if you missed the show this week – please tune in next Sunday and get on the Hungover Radio train!
To be honest – Podcasting has never really excited me anyway – it would have way cheaper, much easier and far less stressful just to do a Podcast, but here’s the thing: I love Live Radio – it’s real, unedited, on the fly stuff – way more fun in my opinion than edited content such as podcasts. In fact, Live internet radio requires some pretty nifty broadcast software plus a broadcast partner with some serious bandwidth to stream the show through. And unlike podcasting – none of this stuff is free. I’m not playing music – so I don’t have to pay Royalties which is cool. Furthermore – I want to introduce phone calls to the show – so listening Live and interacting is really the way to go.
Anyway, I’m going to write some new jingles this week and possibly do an interview or two. I’ve got some other pretty cool show ideas as well- so keep watching and listening. If you have any any spectacular ideas or suggestions – drop me a line at medwardes@ gmail.com.

If Meet The Press is a little highbrow for you on a Sunday morning – Hungover Radio could be the answer. It won’t cure your hangover – but hopefully it’ll get you working on the next one. Join me, Marcus Edwardes, a pitcher of Bloody Marys and a few good mates to analyse, ponder, criticize, slander, covet, dismiss, shoot down and show off to our hearts content. Bloody Marvellous.
If you have something interesting to say to us during the show…

Send me your astounding observations via instant message DURING the show at “hungoverradio” on Twitter, AIM, Yahoo, Skype, GMail or MSN. I can’t guarantee a reply – but you may get a mention on the air!

Forget about the papers, Switch off Meet the Press, Hungover Radio is the only way for you to wake up on a Sunday Morning. Let Marcus Edwardes and guests coax you out of one hangover and get you working on the next one. Great music, interviews, games, general silliness and insipidity are the order of the day. You can even phone in during the show on (424) 230-7701. Seriously, it's Roast Lamb for the Ears.
